“Health is Like Money We Never Really Value it Until We Lose it”
Pakistan is ranked 6th in the world according to its population. It also has a high birth rate which keeps increasing the population every year, posing several problems for the country. As Pakistan is a developing country with a majority of the population residing below the poverty line. Health education in Pakistan is a matter of concern. These facts contribute to lack of medical services such as hospitals and wards for the newborns and the general population, contributing to rising health problems in Pakistan. In Pakistan, there is a high birthrate among those residing below the poverty line. So health issues are destined for the population even before it is born, due to the low health rate of expectant mothers, causing their children damage while in the womb. Therefore, Pakistan is on number 3rd when it comes to infant death rate.
There are many basic medical facilities missing in Pakistan. The educated and competent medical doctors and staff are in shortage to take care of the population. Most people cannot reach the proper facilities due to the lack of their own resources. Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases spreading in Pakistan. Before Imran Khan inaugurated the cancer hospital, Pakistan didn’t have any service for this disease as well. Now it is the only cancer hospital in Pakistan aimed at providing the best treatments for patients with the least possible fee structure imposed for the patient.
The rate of growing health issues in Pakistan are extremely alarming. These issues lead up to severe disease such as Coronary Heart Diseases, Cardio Vascular Diseases, diabetes, cancer etc. Due to the lack of finances and support from the government to the medical department, these diseases become difficult to treat leaving people to deal with them alone. As more than 60 million people are living under the line of poverty out of which a scarce number of people can afford three meals to eat and drink clean water. There is a vast majority of people who face malnutrition which leads to many deadly diseases. Malnutrition is caused due to not taking proper diets. This causes a lack of nutrients and hinders growth.
Some of the deadliest diseases they have to face are diseases such as:
These diseases later lead to the deaths of many people. Most of these diseases can be avoided with the support of the government and the quality doctors who can lend some of their time to the poor. The Pakistani government has not focused on health yet, while they should as thousands of people lose their loved ones each year. The rich use the facilities of the private hospitals by paying out of their own pockets. Many higher middle-class citizens cannot afford the treatments in the long term. In the end, the poor are left to suffer their fates. Most of the population does not even understand what to or how to go about their problems. This is due to the lack of proper awareness programs. Therefore, not only the government but those working in this field need to take a step towards helping the people.
Eat healthy stay healthy in order to be healthy one must have a healthy diet, which is extremely impossible because:
- The income rate in Pakistan is extremely low hence many cannot afford food.
- It also depends on the level of awareness one has.
- Many people in Pakistan who are living below the poverty line and facing unhealthy living and working conditions.
- Unhygienic conditions lead to many life-threatening diseases
- Many people are also unaware of the air and water pollution in Pakistan.
- Drinking unclean water causes many diseases
Are we actually doing something to make things better?
Even though a lot of charities are trying to help the people of Pakistan but they are unable to save a lot of lives. This is because they are unable to fund all the expensive medical services. Many celebrities have also done their share to make medical life in Pakistan better.
- Celebrities such as Misbah-ul-Haq, have announced a Coronary Heart Disease hospital which will be a great help to Pakistan.
- While Imran Khan has already dedicated his life to Pakistan through Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
- Another good example is Abrar ul Haq who is the founder and chairman of Sahara for Life Trust.
Even though health is wealth, in a country like Pakistan money comes first. As the population of Pakistan is still suffering from the basic necessities of life. The government can be of great help if they provide the proper funding allocated to the health. Making and implementing strict laws by the government is a very important step. These laws are not only for medical professionals to follow besides them the whole nation needs to follow them. Health news should be made more interesting so people who watch or listen to news stay updated. These steps can bring a very positive change which is the most important problem we need to be focusing on. So think big, progress in this field of medicine is progress for the whole country.
