Viral Infections are foreign body organisms that can prove to be very dangerous if not treated on time.
Healthcare in Pakistan is very low and hence these shockingly simple changes can help you prevent many simple infections.
1) Wash Your Hands
Even if you think your hands are clean, you should wash them. Germs are very tiny, microscopic creatures, hence not visible. We believe that visibly soiled hands should be the only ones to be washed. Washing with just water, with soap and water both are important. Before eating anything, washing hands should be a must. After using the washroom, properly washing your hands is crucial.
Disinfecting means cleansing yourself and your surroundings. The most infected rooms of your home and workplace are the kitchen and washroom. Keeping them clean can help avoid many infections. Using the best products for this purpose and keeping consistent is the key. You should always have sanitizers at hand also so that you can add an extra layer of protection.
I know injections are scary and most of us out there have a really bad needle phobia. But vaccinations are very important and can help prevent many infectious diseases. The ones you get as a baby are the basic to start your life. The ones developed as an adult with advancing infections are also equally important to get. For e.g. tetanus injection after an injury while playing sports or running or after falling on the road is very crucial to get. You never know which infection might enter your body hence prevention is the best cure.
Doctor prescribed antibiotics are the only ones you should be consuming. Taking medication without the knowledge of the doctor can worsen the effects of the disease. The full course of antibiotic should be taken also. Even if the symptoms disappear after just half the course you should not stop it. It is so because the duration is prescribed to end the infection from the root. If you leave the course in between there is a big chance of the infection returning.
5) No Sharing
Your personal things such as toothbrush, hairbrush, razor blades, and towels should be on no sharing basis. These personal items are the most infection transmitting objects from one person to another. Also, avoid sharing utensils and glass.
6) Travel When You Are Feeling Well
Traveling while you are not feeling well makes you dangerous for others. Small space of the aircraft/bus causes the germs to travel faster and infect others. Talk to your doctor and take proper precautions before you board.
7) Smart Food Preparation
Keep a clean kitchen. Make sure your counter tops and cooking utensils are clean. Do not leave cooked food uncovered. Promptly cover and refrigerate it. That way your food will remain safe to consume later. Clean kitchen means clean food made and no infections transmitted to the stomach.
8) Not Well? Stay At Home
Today in Healthcare News: Please sit at home if you are not feeling well. Going out when not feeling well poses threat for others and the viruses spread. So do yourself a favor, give yourself the needed rest. Do others a favor, do not spread the infection you are suffering from.
9) Cover It
Covering your face while sneezing or coughing helps curtail the number of germs released in the air. Use a tissue or your hands to cover up so that the millions of bacteria released in the air is prevented.
10) Sanitize Yourself
Please do not infect the area around you, keep a sanitizer handy so you can disinfect your hands right there and then. All doctors use them before checking a patient and you do not increase the number of patients by using it to prevent the infections.
All health problems may not have definite solutions but many can be avoided by the little changes that we make in our daily life. The choice to keep healthy is yours, prevent diseases say yes to health. Infections are not to be taken lightly, they can be very deadly. If prevention is not taken then do not cry when you are diagnosed.
