Food binds Pakistan together. We meet, we eat, the best part of our lives. At work, at school anywhere, the first question asked, “Hey what did you get for lunch?”. Yes, I know that is the sole purpose we work so hard for. Like they say happy stomach is a happy you. Health in Pakistan is weighed in upon how much you weigh. How much you eat and trust me you are never healthy enough for us.
What Are You Eating?
Ah! The question that haunts us all. Hoping they have not seen us and would definitely not going to ask for a bite. Sometimes a very tricky question since deciding what to eat when you are hungry is very difficult.
“What is your first choice to eat especially when you are dying of hunger? Burger? Pizza? Paratha roll?”
Well, then there are those who prefer salads but how many of them are out there. Then there are those who prefer a nice home cooked meal. But how many of us actually have the patience to cook after getting back from work? Meal prepping you say, who has the time for that? I want to sleep in every second in the morning that I can squeeze in.
What are the People Around Us Eating?
Well if you can afford a proper meal three times a day and have a good nutritious life. You are better than every two households. That is because two out of every three households cannot afford a nutritious meal.
I mean junk food only causes damages such as:

These are some really deadly diseases listed. Well, we are getting closer to death every second without doing anything anyways. The point to think about is that while you near death naturally, you are accelerating the time by not eating properly. Healthcare and proper food intake will only let you live in peace without any health problems. So the time you spend on this earth is spent with your family and not the doctors.
Baby Step Changes Is the Way to Go About Healthy Eating
Half and Half:
Choose red, orange, and dark-green vegetables like tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, along with other vegetables for your meals. Instead of just the main dish, eat a bowl of fruit or vegetable salad to satisfy your hunger so you can cut down or roti and rice.
Whole grains are better:
An easy way to eat more whole grains is to switch from a refined-grain food to a whole-grain food. For example, eat whole-wheat bread instead of white bread. When shopping, check the ingredients and choose as much whole grain products as you can.
Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk:
Both have the same amount of calcium and other essential nutrients as whole milk, but fewer calories and less saturated fat.
High protein: Meat, poultry, seafood, dry beans or peas, eggs, nuts, and seeds are the best foods for protein.
Nothing Replaces Water:
Cut calories by drinking water or unsweetened beverages. Soda, energy drinks, and sports drinks are a major source of added sugar and calories in American diets. Try adding a slice of lemon, lime, or watermelon or a splash of 100% juice to your glass of water if you want some flavor.
Under the Sea: Seafood includes fish (such as salmon, tuna, and trout) and shellfish (such as crab, mussels, and oysters). Seafood has many nutrients and the most important Omega-3. Adults should try to eat at least eight ounces a week of a variety of seafood. Children can eat smaller amounts of seafood, too.
Say No to Known Fats, sometimes: Eat fewer foods that you know are not good for you. That is eating cake when it’s your birthday. Eat cookies when you are having your hundredth cup of black tea/coffee. Other desserts when your most miser friend is willing to pay for you. Eat pizza when your mom appreciates you and not “that” cousin.
Prioritize your health and your body will prioritize the way you look and feel.
What you eat reflects on how you look. That shirt is not going to start fitting itself by hanging in there. You have to fit your body in. The easiest way to do it is baby steps and consistency. Healthcare in Pakistan Is an issue because drastic changes are expected. One step at a time, starting with your grocery cart.
